An Unavoidable Conflict

March 31, 2018

Site was UCONN - Hicks Arena - Storrs, CT.

Event Holder was Aaron Metzger.

Feastocrat was Melissa Metzger.

Event Description
A young boy has grown. But nobody has heard from him since the summer.

The Iron Road was forged through fae.
Forces have amassed in the caverns under Chimeron.
Death itself was nearly killed.

For over five years the Risen Kingdom has been at the Realms doorstep. The armies of Chimeron have been sieging their underground fortifications, and now with
the close of winter comes time for light at the ends of the tunnels. Forces begin to march. Shall the Risen Kingdom be banished from the Realms, or will their
banner still fly at the end of the night? Will you be there to swing the tide of battle?

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

If the heroes are successful, this event will conclude the first phase of the Risen Kingdom story. Plain and simple, this will be an epic event, whether you join
us as a player or as an NPC. Dayboard and dinner will be provided, so please register any dietary restrictions before March 17 so we can try to accommodate them.

If you would like to help us pull off the crazy plans we have in store for your heroic friends, we will feed you for free and you will be instrumental in
creating a very memorable event. We have roles for anyone to take on, and the more of you join in, the more intense this will be!

**We are not using the built-in Paypal feature since some early registrants are having difficulty with it. You may send your event fee via Google Wallet or
Paypal to the listed email address for Patrick Bobell.**

Player attendance will be capped at 40 paid pre-registered individuals. Once the player list is full, payment is not necessary to be added to the waiting list.
Unpaid players will be added to the waiting list, and payment will be required to move from the waiting list to the paid pre-reg list should a spot become
available. **Player registration will be closed on March 25th, even if the player cap is not reached.**

Event Wrap-up
An invading force repelled. A leader shamed. A portal claimed.
It was a hard fought day for the heroes of the Realms, but at the end Virgil Triskwater was defeated and his forces left dead or
scattered. The invasion of the Risen Kingdoms has come to an end.
Now their portal is in hero hands. Will the heroes use it to satisfy curiosity, deliver justice or enact vengeance? As it slowly
attunes to its new masters, the portal hums, unaware of the fate it will deliver to the world it calls home?

Thank you to everyone who came to An Unavoidable Conflict! This was the conclusion of Phase 1 of a story I began telling over a
decade ago. I never thought it would come along this far or have so many people engaged with it. Of course, I would have never
been able to do it without help, so to that end I want to thank the following:

My Tireless NPCs
\* Sean Veale
\* Melissa Metzger
\* Will Beatty
\* Alex Gorowara
\* Alex Groom
\* Josh Whelan
\* Rachel
\* Becky Baron
\* Elyse Covello

RK Staff
\* Eric Willisson
\* Pat Bobell
\* Mikey Donnelly
\* Stephen Sanford
\* David Rubenstein

I also would like to give some special shoutouts. First, thanks to Jason Rosa for helping us secure space, allowing us to borrow
the dungeon and meeting with us late Friday to show us how to use it. Thanks to Melissa Metzger for making over 120 hand pies, so
everyone could be fed during the event. Thanks to Devon Power who sewed together the giant boss (so much fabric!). Thanks to Pi
Fisher and Andrew Bancroft for assisting with Grandfathering during Reg. Thanks to Alex Gorowara, Will Beatty and Danielle Guimont
for staying extra late to help with clean-up and fill cars. Finally, thank you to the medics (James Murphy, Becky Baron and any
others I have missed) for quickly responding to an injury and and also to Danielle Guimont for following behind on the hospital
trip. We never want this to happen, but it?s good to know we have dedicated people to help when it does.

Speaking of which, on behalf of my staff and myself, we want to wish Dennis Coffey a safe and speedy recovery!

Of course, thanks to everyone who came to play (either today or in the past) for making my story come to life. We would love to
hear your feedback on what worked and what didn't, so please review our event on RealmsNet:
http://www.realmsnet.net/events/event\_review.php?eid=1662

Also, if you're looking to engage our plot in between events, please submit a Story Shard:
https://sites.google.com/site/rtcplot/story-shards

As Phase 1 winds down, my staff and I will be taking a much needed break to recover and begin the planning process of Phase 2. You
can expect opportunities to tie up loose ends, experiment with magic and prepare for Phase 2 in the coming months, but we don?t
plan to run another dedicated event for the Risen Kingdom storyline this year.

Until then, enjoy your well-earned victory and I look forward to seeing all of you on the other side of the portal next year in
Phase 2!
