Event Description

IC: Across the Realms, folks begin their preparations for the long winter. They harvest their last crops, spin yarn to make cloaks and blankets, chop down trees to replenish their stores of firewood, insulate their homes, all in anticipation for what is to come. For you see, with winter can come a sense of foreboding. The days become shorter, and the nights longer. The cold chills us to our very bones. But on the horizon, a bright, warm light shines: Winter Revelry.

OOC: The Winter Revelry staff is thrilled to be back for 2025! Here is what is in store for this year’s celebration:

Friday will be for settling in after the long drive, enjoying drinks at the bar, decorating the tree and the hall, and a potluck for all to enjoy. We will not be providing much food for Friday night, so any contributions to the potluck are appreciated! Note: the kitchen is basically out of commission, but there are plenty of outlets. Please bring your food fully prepared and in a crock pot if applicable. There will also be a Stacked Deck tournament in the evening, additional info can be found under "Other Notes".

And we have so much planned for Saturday!

-Quests hosted by the Adventurer’s Guild for those itching to fight in the snow
-A wonderful spread of hot food by Kyomi and her team
-The Winter Revelry Crow Bar will be open all day for your enjoyment
-Music filling the air
-Vendors lining the halls so you can shop til you drop, including Wulfemoon Studios, The Wandering Potato, Rowan's Rarities, Starry Knight Crafts, Nestra's Treasures and Treats, and Ethereal Hive Crafts
-The Moonlight Casino, sponsored by the Order of the Crescent will be open all day, and Stacked Deck Poker Tournaments in the afternoon and or evening. We will run them as many times as we have 8 or more players.
-Competitions will take place throughout the day to see who shall be named the Lord/ Lady/ Magistrate of the Festival
-A dessert competition!
-Holiday bardics shared on the stage
-A Gingerbread person decorating contest
-A special visit from Pater Yule for any adventurer 13 and younger
-A charity auction hosted by Kelly/Twen, benefitting House of Hope
-Gifts for one and all from Cornix!

We will be serving a delicious breakfast on Sunday morning, then clean up will commence.

We cannot wait to see you there!

Rules Changes and Notes

Please pay through the PayPal.Me link, or hit “Friends/Family” when using PayPal to avoid fees.

This is a damp event. There will be an open bar, and folks are welcome to BYOB as well. People will be held responsible for their own actions when it comes to alcohol. The bar will be happy to hold onto your alcohol/serve it to you if you would like, or you may hold onto it. If you wish to drink, you will be carded and get a wristband at the door. Please do not drink and quest.
Our marijuana policy is similar; you are responsible for your own actions. The site rule about this is there is NO smoking anything within 50 feet of any building. We have a few people who are allergic to marijuana. If you smoke, please take all necessary precautions so that when you come back inside the rest of us can’t smell it on you.

Other Notes

The Friday night Stacked Deck poker tournament will be a 25-gold buy-in, unlimited rebuys for the first hour. 4000 chips to start, with the optional 5 gold for 1000 dealer tip. For this tournament, we are going to try something a little different. The extra 1000 for 5 gold to the dealer will be available for all rebuys and the add ons. Players can do this any time their stack is at 2000 chips or less in the first hour. At the end of the hour anyone, regardless of stack size can do one add-on: 4000 chips for 25 gold (with or without the 5 gold for the dealer 1000 chip add on). This will start as soon as we get 8 players signed up. Note: Sir Tao and Sir Sagart will not be playing but might be looking for some newer players to sponsor into the tournament. If you have been playing for less than 2 years, come and find us to discuss it.
This will last until we have clear winners, or 3 hours. The blinds will be 30 minutes, 25-50, 50-100, 100-200, 200-400, 300-600, 500-1000.

The Saturday Stacked Deck poker tournament will start as soon as we have enough players signed up. 50 gold buy-in for 6000 chips, with a 10 gold dealer tip/add on for 1000 additional chips. 1 50 gold rebuy is available if your stack is under 3000 chips in the first hour. At the end of the first hour, regardless of stack size, anyone who has not done a rebuy can do 1 add on for the same cost as the buy-in. 50 gold for 6000 chips with the optional 10 gold for an additional 1000 chips.
This will last until we have clear winners, or 3 hours. The blinds will be 20 minutes, 25-50, 50-100, 100-200, 200-400, 300-600, 500-1000, 1000-2000, 1500-3000. 2000-4000.
After the first tournament runs on Saturday, if we have interest we can run other poker tournaments with buy-ins TBD.

Compete in the Great Winter Revelry Dessert Competition! It’s that time of year again! It’s time to sparkle, to dazzle, and to delight in……DESSERT! This year’s Winter Revelry Dessert Contest is UGLY SWEATER THEMED! We are throwing perfection out the window this year and in place of it, we want your best over the top, gaudy, crazy, and festive creation. What does it mean to be “UGLY”??? Well, think of those sweaters that win the contest. They are covered in sparkles and bright colors. Your dessert must be Yule themed, and above all, it must be delicious. You may create cakes, pies, pastries, cookies, or any dessert that can please a crowd, the choice is yours, but please bring enough to feed a group.

You can find the prizes and scoring rubric below.

1st place - 150 gold
2nd place - 100 gold
3rd place - 75 gold
4th place - 50 gold
5th place - 25 gold

Criteria
Score 0-5 Points
Is it Yule themed?
Is the decoration over the top, gaudy, or “ugly”?
Is it delicious?
Will it feed at least 8 people?

Would you like to JUDGE the dessert competition? For a 25 gold fee, we will recruit up to 6 additional judges and you will get to try everything first! Please message Meg/Kyomi if you are interested!

Kelly Bonci will be facilitating the beloved IC gift swap:
"We are keeping traditions alive and well. At the Winter Revelry, we will be hosting a secret swap. It's very simple. You fill out the below information for me, and I'll get you a name to bring a gift for! When you arrive at the party, please put your gift (which I know will be clearly labeled with the recipient's name) under the tree. In the evening, we will do the swap!
XOXO

OOC: there is no price limit, only do what you can do. Remember this is all IC. The biggest tip I can give you is to remember that this swap is to bring others joy. Please do not gripe if the gift isn't ideal. Someone thought of you and did the best they could.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
