Event Description
IC: Across the Realms, folks begin their preparations for the long winter. They harvest their last crops, spin yarn to make cloaks and blankets, chop down trees to replenish their stores of firewood, insulate their homes, all in anticipation for what is to come. For you see, with winter can come a sense of foreboding. The days become shorter, and the nights longer. The cold chills us to our very bones. But on the horizon, a bright, warm light shines: Winter Revelry. OOC: The Winter Revelry staff is thrilled to be back for 2025! Here is what is in store for this year’s celebration: Friday will be for settling in after the long drive, enjoying drinks at the bar, decorating the tree and the hall, and a potluck for all to enjoy. We will not be providing much food for Friday night, so any contributions to the potluck are appreciated! Note: the kitchen is basically out of commission, but there are plenty of outlets. Please bring your food fully prepared and in a crock pot if applicable. There will also be a Stacked Deck tournament in the evening, additional info can be found under "Other Notes". And we have so much planned for Saturday! -Quests hosted by the Adventurer’s Guild for those itching to fight in the snow -A wonderful spread of hot food by Kyomi and her team -The Winter Revelry Crow Bar will be open all day for your enjoyment -Music filling the air -Vendors lining the halls so you can shop til you drop, including Wulfemoon Studios, The Wandering Potato, Rowan's Rarities, Starry Knight Crafts, Nestra's Treasures and Treats, and Ethereal Hive Crafts -The Moonlight Casino, sponsored by the Order of the Crescent, will be open all day, and Stacked Deck Poker Tournaments in the afternoon and or evening. We will run them as many times as we have 8 or more players. -Competitions will take place throughout the day to see who shall be named the Lord/ Lady/ Magistrate of the Festival -A dessert competition! -Holiday bardics shared on the stage -A Gingerbread person decorating contest -A special visit from Pater Yule for any adventurer 13 and younger -A charity auction hosted by Kelly/Twen, benefitting House of Hope -Gifts for one and all from Cornix! We will be serving a delicious breakfast on Sunday morning, then clean up will commence. We cannot wait to see you there! The Adventurers Guild is excited to welcome all revelers to another year of tackling some smaller unresolved matters for folks around the Realms. We'd ask that interested adventurers also take shifts on the western flank during at least one of the three quests. Don't worry, though! There should be plenty of time between each quest to return to the tavern, warm up, and enjoy your fill of the day's delicious fare. We have a short briefing below for each matter to be taken care of, and of course more details will be available when it's time to set out for each quest. **Little Trouble on the High Seas - 12:30 PM - Medium Combat** Multiple shipwrecks have been reported in the eastern seas. Efforts to recover survivors or signs of the deceased have proven fruitless. An unlikely source can guide adventurers to where survivors may be located, and perhaps also to the reason for these attacks. **A Hidden Truth - 2:15 PM - Low Combat** Sir Tychus has called for members of the Church of Arius or any willing adventurers to help a small town just beyond Eagle's Rook's border. He reports something amiss with an upcoming murder tribunal - the innocence of the accused is certain, but Sir Tychus must return to ongoing matters in Eagle's Rook. The Realms will need to uncover the truth to absolve the wrongfully accused. **A Caravan of Courage - 4:00 PM - Medium Combat** A small Auroran Shrine in the mountains of Qua Taereth Nunna is in need of aid. The mountain passes to the shrine are treacherous, stalked by monsters and bandits alike. The keeper of the shrine has put out a call to Clan Riverhawk and any of their allies to protect the caravans of materials needed to rebuild wards against an ancient evil.
Event Wrap-up
The Shortest Day is now behind us, and our loud voices, kindness, and cheer have brought rebirth to the light. And it is in the light of our longer days I wish to thank you. Thank you all for coming. We do these events for you and to give you the happiness back in turn that we have been given down the decades. This event continues to be a testimonial to our Realms family. The number of people who have stepped up in the planning and execution of this event, the outpouring of energy and dedication to making this event what it is, has been humbling. We have such a great staff and again our event has run smooth and boisterous. This is what these Holidays are meant to be. Welcome Yule, everyone. I want to thank everyone who came out, braved the cold, and celebrated this occasion with us. I want to thank my fellow Event Holders, for continuing to take what started as a notion and have allowed it to grow and evolve. I want to thank Megan Matulewicz as Feast Manager. It is her mastery of the kitchen that keeps us focused, with a top notch array of constant food. Her ability to coordinate her chaos, and for taming it in myself, I will always be in awe and appreciation of. I want to thank everyone who contributed to the Pot luck and food for Friday, for helping to kick off the event. There were so many people who stepped up and helped out the kitchen (Brendan Lam, Gael, Amber, Potato, Alyssa Lee, Dez, Steve Nelson, Pawldo) from the two days of home preparation, to dish cleaning, to running the Tavern and seeing it updated and in the end clean and ready for the next guests... thank you all. We could not have done this without you and it is your dedication and support that allows our events to happen. Thank you for Matt Butler and Lynn for running our Registration, carding for drinks, voting for Naming the Mimic (now Monsieur LeTrappe), … it is never glamourous work, but it is at the core of what makes and event. Thank you to Sarah Fournier and all the crew (Justin Thibeault, Jarryd Kucera, Jasper Sierra, Beth Tozier, Kelley Osborne) who ran the bar. You had the bar running for 2 days full. You and your crew were there to make it all epic, and continue to be legendary in your efforts and creativity of space and cocktails. Thank you to all the bar patrons. Your manner and control added to elevate our event, thank you for your responsible drinking. Thank you to Crystal Welch for Managing the Cornix Plot and Pageantry. She was (and is) a force of nature, elevating the flow of events for Saturday. I am still and awe as she adds the minor touches to provide such positive energy. Thank you to everyone who heled us decorate the hall (Matthew/Traveler, Kanik/Corvus, Max/Azimuth, Fansy/Quinn, Isaac/Four). It is the final touches that help the event come alive. Thank you to Kelly Bonci for organizing and managing the Yule Gift Swap and the Charity Auction. Her efforts have over the years are some of the most memorable parts of our Realms winter parties, and her continued work is what makes events special. Thank you. Thank you to Tucker Noyes and the Adventurer's Guild for coming in again and setting up the questing for Saturday. People had such a great experience with your quests. Thank you to everyone who NPCd. It was cold, and you were there to help warm up the blood and challenge! Well met to all. Thank you to Matt Brenner and the Pater Yule Crew (Becky, Crystal) for this continued staple of the Realms community. Thank you for your time, and your dedication to his annual visit. Thank you to the James, Emily, and all the dealers at the Moonlight Casino (Quinn M., Andrew K., Emma P. R., Pi F.), who ran 3 Stacked Deck Poker tournaments, and had Blackjack and other games going at different times. The Casino is an aspect of our game that helps us in many seen and unseen ways. Your focus and time to this type of commerce and tournament is vital to the Realms and our general enjoyment. Thank you to everyone who stepped up and cleaned up when asked. Justin Balanca-Hawkes, Steve Nelson, Robert Ferullo, Joey Chipman, and Dan Diamond: your willingness to help out is what allows us to run our events if there is an emergency and to close our sites on time. I want to thank Cat Brooks, the Site owner for Ye Olde Commons. Your flexibility and ability to respond to questions and problems continue to make the event less stressful and was very appreciated. I want to thank anyone who is not specifically mentioned. We had close to 30 staff and countless people stepping up last minute, and it was this support that allowed us to create such an epic event. thank you to all of you.
