Greetings to you, my friends.
The season has arrived when we begin preparations for our longstanding and beloved tradition, the Feast of the Leviathan. And while this winter will see the twenty-seventh incarnation of this annual gathering, as always there are new aspects of the event that we are all excited about. Chief among them, a celebration that we have been looking forward to for months, hosting the nuptials of Squire Rowan Heatherfrost and Sir Grindin Starbrook.
Seven years ago at Leviathan, upon the occasion of the debut and naming of our daughter Lady Aelise, we received an extremely generous gift from High Lord Temorse and the people of Ashenmark; a large tract of land along our shared border. This land was named Lionsmark as a symbol of the longstanding friendship between Rhiassa and Ashenmark and over the years has become a symbol of our many shared purposes and of our enduring alliance.
The wedding that we are so honored to host this year, between Squire Rowan of Rhiassa and Sir Grindin of Ashenmark, in many ways feels like a personification of that alliance. And so Ashenmark and Rhiassa together are cooperating to throw the most amazing celebration of that marriage that we can. In a departure from the traditional home of Leviathan in Southland, Rhiassa; this year’s feast will take place in Pride’s Keep in Lionsmark, honoring the bonds, both preexisting and new, that are symbolized by that land. All aspects of the event will be themed around this celebration from decor to food, and the wedding ceremony itself promises to be worthy of the two very special people who will be joined together in matrimony.
Please find your official invitation to these festivities enclosed, and please join us on this happy occasion when the new year arrives. To celebrate Rowan and Grindin, to celebrate a new chapter in the story of Lionsmark, and celebrate the strength of the bonds we all make with each other here in these Realms.
Leviathan with you,
Lord Sir Aeston and Lady Dame Areni Stromgate
The food format of the day will be similar to previous Leviathans, with some changes that reflect the celebratory wedding format for this year.
The day will begin with the traditional Rhiassan giant charcuterie board so you can start snacking as soon as the event begins. Dame Umbra’s kitchen will continuously be producing a delightful array of small bites and amuse-bouche, brought out by servants on platters and circulated through the crowd. Additionally this year, a number of chef stations will be set up around the hall where patrons can come up to have some personally prepared elevated dishes to enjoy. We cannot stress enough that there is no way you will be able to spend the day hungry with the volume and variety of food that will be pouring out of the kitchen.
If you have any kind of dietary restriction please fill out this form by January 1st so we can serve you best: https://forms.gle/dZ2Na9uzVGz3iLqT6. Like last year we will have special staff members dedicated to those with dietary restrictions and the sooner they know your information the better.
We will have a bar set up for drink service with expert bartending services! The hall is dry, but we will have a welcome variety of both hot and cold drinks with some specialty items as well including the widely popular Rhiassan Fruit Fizz. Our special yearly drink this year is sure to be a tribute to the happy couple!
In the mid afternoon, once the festivities are well underway, the wedding ceremony will take place. This will be followed by an early court where gifts can be offered to the happy couple.
During the open hall portion of the day, entertainment and non-combat tournaments will be dispersed around both the large and small sections of the hall. There will be contests and games including the return of our sculpture contest, puzzle contest, our table-top challenges, and new as well. We'll give you lots to do!
We have a new offering for specialty entertainment this year! Teams of three will be able to work together in our Rhiassan Crush The Castle game! Use our model catapults to launch throngs of ammunition at our giant model castle to try and bring it down and score points based on the level of destruction that you inflict! Amazing gold prizes will be awarded to the teams that end the day on the leaderboard!
The Chimeron Casino Royale will be in attendance with Rhiassa's own table game, Luck of the Lion. To encourage participation, especially by those who are new to playing at a casino, vouchers for some free chips will be available as you arrive at the door. There will also be a Stacked Deck poker tournament starting early in the day with a new Bounty and Champion Bounty system. Look for more information about how this will work in the coming weeks.
And for those of you interested in a little adventure, Sir Avendar passes along this message: “Heroes of the Realms, I invite you to join me in a rescue mission through Hell to save an innocent spirit trapped by darkness!” Which I’m sure will in no way impact the otherwise celebratory feel of the day.
Rhiassan Cub Club will return this year with activities to keep the youngest members of our community entertained and happy. Please note: Parents who would like their kids to participate in cub care must register at this link https://forms.gle/scstGPagvN8xF6gZ8 by January 1st so we can make sure we can give them the best possible experience.
As always, there is space for merchants to set up their wares. This hall, however, is smaller than our usual one so we ask that merchants bring a reduced set of offerings so there is space for everyone. Contact Aeston if you would like to set up shop.
The Heroes of the Western Flank appreciation auction will once again take place this year. This yearly tradition is Rhiassa's way of honoring members of the community for the effort they put into one of the community's most valuable and unsung duties. Make sure you get a participation survey from the registration table and tell us how much you NPC'd this year to have a chance to win some magic items!
Per our normal procedures, you can reserve a table for your group with pre-regges. Three pre-regges from the same nation will allow you to reserve a table. This year tables will seat eight to ten. Since all attendees will be pre-regged this year, I'll let you know if you need less or more tables than you might have predicted when you contact me and throughout the process.
During the early evening, the feast will transition to a more traditional format. Dinner will be served family-style to tables followed by a dessert course by Fern’s Baking!
During the dessert course Rhiassa will host some abbreviated courtly proceedings followed by the View from Valehaven award ceremony.
Final event awards and thank yous will then take place right before we all say goodbye for the evening.
Please Note the site change to Camp Joslin.
The JN Webster Boy Scout Hall that we've used for many years is under construction and rennovation in the winter of 2026. Good news is it will be even bigger and better when we get back to it in 2027. In the meantime, Camp Joslin will be Leviathan's temporary home.
For the mini-questing potion of the event; there may be some non-standard calls and mechanics which will be detailed at the event.
This is a dry site.
No pets allowed.
