Makhta's Lucid Nightmare ...and the Dream Shards
July 17 - July 19, 2026
Site was Sterling "The Hall @ 34 Ford Road" - Sterling, MA.
Event Holders were Randy Gordon, Beth Tozier, Sean Veale.
Event Description
Aiden turned to his companions, "Are we sure this is the way? " With nervous confidence Omri replied "Absolutely. I learned a spell and dropped a pin. We are ready." Under the light of J'ortsa's necklace they began their journey. It's been a year since the chains have been broken and Dream has been set free. While he must attend to rebuilding, Matthew the Crow has been sent to ensure that the DreamSmith is reforged, and that any residual impacts of Dream's sister have been dealt with. **There will also be a resolution to the Makhta vampire plot for good or ill. **Sean is an EH so you can never rule out surprise Chim plot. No prior plot knowledge needed. Questing from Friday night to Saturday night. Sunday will allow for roleplay followup. Sunday will also feature unrelated "Loose Ends" questing in the form of mods that Kathy has left over from other events (or that players request in advance) -- so far that's a flower from the Library of Fae and the Cheese Thief Quest from Gilded Lion. Rumors to be updated randomly. https://docs.google.com/document/d/16TeXCXJQT-4sB8gRjEz1sUMGxA_JAyv_QYoRXLhR5w4/edit?usp=drivesdk
Event Wrap-up
Canadian forest fires, forecast for thunderstorms all weekend, dead trees fallen all over the trails. It seemed like bad omens but we persisted. The air was tough at times for sure, somehow the weather wasn’t actually that bad, and Sean proved his mad skills with a chainsaw clearing so much of the site. The rain even cleared up in time for the bats to arrive right on cue! For the past year, Randy, Kathy, Sean, Beth, and Greg planned an adventure filled with so many ups and downs. Some events are all about darkness, heroism, whimsy, loss, regret, bravery, etc. We wanted to create a roller coaster of emotion with waves of laughter and tears. In the end Makhta was saved but so much more was created through player creativity. We were surprised and delighted by all of your actions and how you rolled with whatever direction you brought us in. We were blessed with a cosmic crew of NPCs who played so many roles including: Greg F as our Vampire Lord that everyone loved to hate, Neil and Nataliya as our agents of Despair Kord and Cordelia, Ben L as Zargothrax the Rock God, Matt D who played so many fake Dionins, Rudy who may or may not have been playing a version of Puck, Zach K as the most noble Lord Ferg, Wendi as Aiden’s greatest nightmare, Sarah F. as Makhta’s greatest nightmare, Dani and Sage LeCasse, Justin B.H., Tucker, Heath, Kai, Ember, Ello, and possibly more. PCs Matthew and Jerry helped out on Friday when they saw we needed more NPCs as well as Nixon and Angel who jumped in to help on Sunday. Thanks to our dedicated kitchen staff who made the rain all but disappear with the best ice cream social: Kelly Bonci (as Joy) and Diana. So many people helped with setup, cleanup, and just rolling with things, both NPC and PC. When we are a community and we are awesome together. Thanks to Kyra and Sky for planning and running the Dream Ritual Friday night. There were too many moments that brought us joy to mention them all. It was fabulous to see so many instruments appear in the rain during the music mod and suddenly a jam season came out of nowhere. Griffin vs Dark Ryu battle. A Shiny Wayland Bomb smashed by a Fae Monkey. Ryu rips out the Vampire Lord’s heart. A murdered Bunny. Dionin eating Makhta's baby for old time's sake. Just too many fabulous moments to listen them all. Thanks to the trusting PCs that trusted us to mess with their characters. Hannah B, who made arguably the best PC villain ever, signed on a year ago to do something but was only briefed about 10 days before the event to avoid spoilers. Maria and Justin who said sure you can mess with us, not knowing that Liselle and J’ortsa would have a Freaky Friday (technically Saturday). Cam, Dan, and Jerry who agreed to be inflicted at some point in the event, not sure when or how it would play out. You came, you were tormented and traumatized. You were tricked and played tricks. You fought hard, sacrificed much, and managed to win. Makhta was saved, and it was all thanks to your ingenuity, determination, and self-sacrifice. The staff of Makhta’s Lucid Nightmare would like to thank everyone who came out to make this event a success. Thank you Randy Beth Sean Greg Kathy
